Sunday Saying {9}

Sunday 29 March 2015 ·

Laughing is infectious, it's a rare occasion that if someone around you is laughing you'll be able to resist the urge to join in and that can't be a bad thing! Not only will laughing, and in turn smiling, brighten your day but it's also good for you!

Life is better when your laughing.

Sunday 22 March 2015 ·

You won't get anywhere in life by simply following the crowd and avoiding going out on a limb and doing something a bit different. Being different can be pretty daunting whether its in your professional or personal life but it's time to turn over a new leaf and have the courage to be yourself or stand up for what you believe in. Take the risk and see where you end up - it could just be the best decision you've ever made...

It takes nothing to join the crowd. It takes everything to stand alone.

Etsy Wish List

Monday 16 March 2015 ·

I've always loved Etsy but a couple of weeks ago I went one step further and opened my own Etsy store, Fabietta Designs (see my post here). Since then I've been spending countless hours browsing through the incredible things being sold on there partly for research but more just because I can't resist beautiful handmade goodies! Here are some of my favourites so far...

Above is a stunning geometric pottery bowl incorporating two of my favourite colours - mint green and white! I need this in my life!

What bathroom doesn't need some adorable wall art? I love the natural look of the twine and hessian.

This is such a versatile, simple necklace and would look great as a pop of colour to a chic all black outfit!

Who can say no to some brightly coloured chevron washi tape? No one really needs it and yet we all want it.

This mini planter would look fantastic on my desk whenever I actually get round to getting one. It's clean and simple and you can't really go wrong with an air plant!

Monochrome is the one fashion trend that will never die and therefore a staple clutch like this is a must have in your wardrobe! Pair it with anything and you're guaranteed to look chic.

As a self confessed berry addict I'm not really sure how I don't already have some of these porcelain berry baskets

We all know how easy it is to break an iPhone and so a cover is pretty much compulsory unless you like the smashed glass look! So why not go with a beautiful wood print phone case like this one?

Gold accessories are a must have for any desktop and this giant paperclip desk organiser would look perfect next to my mini planter!

These pedestal tables would look perfect in my flat although I don't think I'd be able to decide if I should have them as side tables, stools or bedside tables!

These are just a few of my favourite things I've found on Etsy in the past week or  so, there are lots more here but I don't think my bank account would like it if I got them all!

Do you ever use Etsy? What are the best things you've bought from there?

Blogging is an ever growing industry with thousands of new blogs starting up each and every day. Thanks to this, no matter how passionate you are about your blog it can be the hardest thing in the world to actually get noticed which can incredibly demoralising.

If there's one thing I've learnt in a year of blogging its to ignore the number of page views or Bloglovin' followers - if I didn't I'd have stopped doing this months ago! Instead I keep going because I genuinely love this little corner of the internet and I don't need credit from some anonymous person on the other side of the world to give me motivation to keep going. I'm going to keep going because I want to!

Never stop doing your best just because someone doesn't give you credit.

This can be applied to everything in life and I think it's an incredibly important lesson to learn and it'll make a huge difference, I promise.

10 Tips To Make The Most of Your Money

Wednesday 11 March 2015 ·

We're all taught from a young age the value of money and the importance of making sure to set money aside 'for a rainy day' and yet despite this saving money and making the most of the money you have can be incredibly difficult, especially with living costs doing nothing but increasing. It was only when I was made redundant that I truly learnt the value of having some savings to fall back on and thankfully I've been pretty good at setting aside money each month.

Whether your saving for a week in the sun or to buy a house I have a few tips to try and make saving a little bit easier:

  1. 'Look after the pennies' - have a jar where you keep your loose change and try not to dip into it whenever you fancy a take away. You'll be amazed how quickly it adds up.
  2. Make the most of your loyalty cards.
  3. Make your own lunch & coffee - head to Pinterest for some delicious recipes.
  4. Be adventurous with your cooking - fancy going out for sushi? Why not try making it instead?
  5. Always make a shopping list and stick to it!
  6. Cancel unwanted/unused memberships.
  7. Have a clear out and sell things you don't use on eBay.
  8. Put money aside each month - set up a direct debit so you don't forget!
  9. Set up a fixed savings account that you can't access for 1/2 years that way you can't spend it!
  10. Discount codes - can't resist the odd dinner out? Download Vouchercloud and make your money stretch a little bit further.

These are just a few ways to make the most of your money and increase your savings. They may seem like common sense but it's all too easy to slip into bad habits like buying a £3 meal deal for lunch everyday and it's astounding how fast the money adds up!

What are your best tips for saving money / making your money go further?

The Transition Nail Polish

Monday 9 March 2015 ·

The days are getting longer, flowers are blooming and the birds are starting to sing - it's official spring is in the air and all I want to do is crack about my bright nail polishes! However, living in the UK it's safe to say we've still got a long way to go until we can pack away our winter layers and get ready for the warmer months so it might be a little premature for the brights...

So in place of the brights I decided to pick up one of the new Barry M Speedy Quick Dry nail polishes in Pit Stop. This is the perfect neutral grey tone with a lilac undertone. In some lights it looks very plain whereas in others the lilac tones really come through and it's beautiful. My only criticism is that if you don't have a decent base and top coat then it's not got the greatest longevity but seeing as it dries so quickly you can always redo it when it chips!

I can guarantee that this will be making an appearance on my nails throughout the year.

At only £3.99 this is a bargain and it needs a place in your collection.

Remember that time you were having a really bad day, in fact scratch that, a really bad week? Yes, we've all been there and it sucks! But do you also remember the text / phone call / surprise coffee from your friend that brightened your day, gave you something more positive to focus on and finally got you smiling again? It's amazing how one small thing from someone you care about can make a world of difference.

Be the reason someone smiles today.

So today, be that person, reach out to someone you care about and make them smile - you never know how much that might improve their day.

Mixed Berry Smoothie

Saturday 7 March 2015 ·

This delicious and vibrant smoothie couldn't be easier to throw together in the morning, just pop all of the ingredients into your blender and off you go! It's jam packed with vitamins and is super easy to customise each day so you can't possibly get bored.

What you need...

  • 100g frozen mixed berries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 spoonfuls greek / natural yoghurt
  • 150ml apple juice
  • 4/5 mint leaves

All you need to do is throw all of the ingredients into your blender and blitz until smooth - this usually takes a couple of minutes to get a really good texture. If it's a little thick in consistency simply add some more juice or water.

If you have fresh berries as opposed to frozen then throw in a few ice cubes too to give that proper 'smoothie' texture.

Fancy a change? Why not add peaches and spinach? Or even swap the apple juice for coconut water!

Another one of my go to smoothies is a citrus one that's perfect to kick start you in the morning, check out the recipe here

What do you like to throw in your smoothies?

Spring Reading List

Monday 2 March 2015 ·

It's finally get to that time of the year where the days are beginning to feel just a little bit longer and spring feels like it is within grasping distance. Longer days inherently means more time to do the things you love (or at least it feels that way) and in my case that's more reading time! Here are just a few of the books I'm planning on reading during the spring months...

The Glam Guide
The brand new book by Youtube and blogging powerhouse Fleur de Force. She's been one of my favourite Youtubers for a few years now and her approachable personality really comes across in the book. I've only flicked through the first couple of chapters so far so I can't wait to sit down and work my way through the rest!

Arguably one of the most famous book by George Orwell and I'm ashamed to say it's not something I've ever read and so I feel this is about time I get round to it! You can't go wrong with a classic.

I finally got round to booking the accommodation for my upcoming New York trip (bring on April 30th) and so now I can legitimately start planning the trip. I've been 3 times previously so I'm on the hunt for things that are a little off the beaten track so I can try and experience I side of New York I've not seen already. Let the research commence - let me know any of your recommendations in the comments section!

Another of the classics that I'm ashamed to say I've never read. It looks as though spring will be spent catching up on all of the classics that have somehow passed me by.

In all honesty I have absolutely no idea what this book is about, I downloaded it purely because it's written by John Green, the author of The Fault In Our Stars. Fingers crossed I enjoy this as much. Am I the only one who does that?

Reading is one of my favourite things to do when I just need to take a little time out and relax so I can't wait to dive in and get lost in these books.

Let me know in the comments section what your favourite books are - hopefully I race through these so I can get started on some of your favourites too!

Sunday 1 March 2015 ·

How has your week been? I can't believe we're already in March, how did this happen!? Yet again, another month has flown by in the blink of an eye. As it's Sunday again it's time for another Sunday saying...

It's not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters.

With Mothers Day just around the corner it's a reminder to show your mum just how much you love and appreciate her. However, don't forget that she, and everyone else in your life, deserves to be reminded of this each and every day. Try and do something nice for the people in your life as often as you can as you'll be amazed what a difference it will make to them.
